Every once in a while, social media takes a break from being a vapid, fascist-friendly, dumbsh*t-opinion-magnifier, and it brings us something genuinely delightful. Like that time everyone thought about the stupidest thing they did in 2021. Or when everyone took the piss out of Gotham. Or when everyone reminisced about other great moments from Twitter’s past.

Today’s one of those rare days when the collective mindset of Twitter does something good for a change. This time it’s an inspired fusion of media, as Twitter users take the thought experiment ‘What if some great movies actually came out in 2007?’ and runs with it. 2007 of course being the year that Michael Bay’s original Transformers was released. Yes indeed, it’s been 15 years since that ultraheteronormative, jingoistic, eyeball-abusingly saturated piece of (admittedly relatively effective in some ways) garbage came out. I don’t remember much at all from the film, but the one thing that always stuck with me was its ending. You remember the one. It’s the Linkin Park Ending (rest in peace, Chester). It was fun! An aptly cheesy closer to a gigantic bowlful of the stuff.

Now that you’ve been reminded of it and you’ve heard the premise of this meme I bet you’re already imagining all the possibilities aren’t you? Well don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Let’s go on a fun little ride back to a simpler era (even though some of the films featured are from way before 2007, you get the drift!).

And, fair warning: Here be spoilers—obviously!
