Couples planning to wed this year have faced major challenges because of the pandemic. Do you raincheck? Elope? Carry on as if there isn’t a world-rattling virus that can infect not only your guests but also anyone who comes in contact with attendees for weeks after? One couple in Maine went with the latter, sparking an outbreak.
With all that in mind, we turn to this wedding invite that has Twitter going wild:
Damn. Just got this in the mail. pic.twitter.com/Vqd9mPFxav
— Dan White (@atdanwhite) September 21, 2020
In case the fancy font makes it difficult to read, here’s the details:
F*ck Covid-19
We’re Keeping Our Date!
NO MASKS ALLOWED!
(We Want To See Everyone’s Beautiful Mouths)
We will have a designated “cough room.”
Taking lots of photos of grandparents in case anything happens
In replies, Twitter users are questioning the veracity of this picture. On one hand, no one could be this glib, reckless, and stupid. On the other hand, have you met 2020? Aside for the aforementioned deadly wedding, the virus has been spread through Trump rallies and a Smash Mouth concert. Then, a deadly wildfire was ignited by a gender reveal party gone wrong. This year is defined by stupidity and recklessness.
Therefore, a lot of the comments were basically this:
I can’t tell and it’s making me crazy!
— Michelle Berman (@michellelberman) September 21, 2020
However, there are a few clues that had keen-eyed viewers calling bunk. Look at the names of this alleged bride and groom:
Erica Fartlander and Dustin Ween
Yeah. It’s a joke. Dan White is a comedian, who low-key confessed the ruse in this exchange, which screenshotted “Fartlander” becoming a Twitter trend.
My greatest accomplishment, Karsten

But who is the couple on this invite? The brunette and blonde pictured bear a faint resemblance to White and his real-life wife, seen here on his Instagram:
However, a source-search for the image reveals White may have plucked it from Pinterest, and photoshopped from there.
Uncovering the truth of this invite hasn’t spoiled the fun. Some clever soul created a wedding registry for the Fartlander-Ween nuptials at Bed Bath and Beyond. Among the gifts requested are an air-filter and no-contact thermometer, both in a wedding-friendly white. Then there’s this custom-made sign to hang in their home.
Bless this mess.
