To be fair, I don’t watch Norwegian television, or, really, any TV programming that isn’t from English-speaking countries. It isn’t necessarily jingoistic of me, I just don’t take the time. Nor, I’m guessing, do most of you reading who live in the good old U.S. of A. Thankfully, there are people doing God’s work on the Internet by bringing the best of international pop culture to our e-shores and today they’ve discovered a doozy.
Ylvis is the name of a Nordic comedy duo (Bård Ylvisåker and Vegard Ylvisåker) and they have a variety/talk show sort of thing on a channel called TVNorge. Just like our own televisual celebrities, Ylvis is busy promoting their upcoming season of “I Kveld Med” with a big media campaign that involves, among other things, overly literal (and NSFW without earbuds) soul music. Unlike our televisual celebrities, Ylvis has made one of the most bizarre yet oddly endearing, and kind of catchy, music videos wherein they sing about animal noises like a nursery rhyme… while wearing what can only be described as FurryChic. I can’t really do it justice, so I suggest you watch the video, “The Fox,” below and bask in the awesome terribleness. Or, is it terrible awesomeness? Either way, it’s the best three minutes and forty-five seconds you’ll have all day, and maybe even all week.
Happy Thursday!
Kinda puts “Gangnam Style” to shame, doesn’t it?
Rob Payne also writes the web comic The Unstoppable Force, tweets on the Twitter, tumbls on the Tumblr, and his wares can be purchased here. He owes finding this video to a co-worker at the day job (thanks, Chrissie).
