La Winslet's Finally Back in Period Costume for Alan Rickman's 'A Little Chaos'
It’s been a while since we’ve seen our Kate give good hat, but in this new clip from Severus Snape’s A Little Chaos, La Winslet proves she’s still got that flair for period fashion. In his second directorial outing, Alan Rickman reunites with his Sense and Sensibility co-star; he plays king (Louis XIV) to her strong willed designer and gardener, Sabine De Barra. Let’s stop right here and admit we’d watch these two dance around each other all day; but no worries, there’s more to the story.
Written by Alison Deegan, the story follows Sabine’s career breakthrough when she is hired by the king’s (hot…and married) André Le Notre (Matthias Schoenaerts) to help create the gardens at Palace of Versailles. Through the course of navigating her way through a maze of professional and personal rivalries, Sabine must find a way to meet Louis’ grand demands on time — step one: figure out who that melancholic guy in the garden is.
A Little Chaos also stars Helen McCrory as Madame Le Notre, Stanley Tucci as “court dandy” Duke Phillipe, and Steven Waddington and Pauline Moran. The film makes its closing night premiere at TIFF September 14th; the rest of us have to wait to see it some time after its February 15th UK debut.
