Kristen Bell Is Smearing Her Unapologetically Peppy Christmas Spirit All Over Your Tiny Grinch Hearts

Yes, I know we have another week and a half until Thanksgiving (generally the American starting gun for Christmas marketing), but there’s no fighting it: we’re already ankle deep in winter commercials and decorations. It starts earlier every year, but this is the first year I can remember not being upset about that. Maybe because the ads we’ve been seeing so far are actually pretty great. There was the boy and his penguin, a Weird Al appearance, and Anna Kendrick being generally awesome. All pretty low-key. Now we have this song from Kristen Bell and the a cappella group Straight No Chaser, “Text Me Merry Christmas.” I’m sure some of you will hear the level of pep and whimsy here and roll your eyes so far back they disappear into your brain. But personally, both Bell and the holidays raise my pep limit, so both combined make this not just tolerable but flat out wonderful.

I mean, come on. With the lyric “I’ll be right here waiting for my pants to start vibrating,” this song has earned itself a spot on my vomitously twee indie Christmas Pandora station that I will start listening to the day after Thanksgiving.

What do you think? Enjoyably adorable, or have your eyeballs gotten lost in their sockets?
