New York Rep. Michael Grimm did not apparently appreciate being asked, on camera, about allegations of campaign finance impropriety. After a reporter asked about it, and he offered no comment, the Congressman left, and the reporter wrapped up his piece. However, the cameras were still running when the Congressman returned, and both the Congressman and what is clearly a very timid reporter had a heated exchange. You can’t make it out very well from the video, but in a transcript provided by the local news station, NY1, Grimm said the following:
“Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I’ll throw you off this f——-g balcony.” Scotto interjected, saying that he had “a valid question.” The New York Republican then responded by saying “No, no, you’re not man enough, you’re not man enough. I’ll break you in half. Like a boy.”
The Congressman has since, well, not apologized exactly, but owned up to the threats (in a way, quite frankly, that’s likely to get him more votes than he loses in New York).
DEMOCRACY.
