Spoilerish words ahead for ‘Stranger Things,’ which you definitely should have watched by now.

When we think about the divisive characters of Stranger Things, Barb has that market cornered. But following right behind in a close second is that smarmy-faced, big-haired dudebro Steve. Feelings on Steve are split, with many of us thinking he’s as big a garbage person as his idiot friends, while others are convinced his inner nice guy was ultimately revealed.

But whether you like Steve or despise him, there’s one thing about him that pretty much the entire internet has come to agree on. And that is that this guy:

HAS to be related to this guy:

Is Steve Jean-Ralphio Saperstein’s father? Uncle? Time traveling self? No one knew for sure… until now. In this video, Ben Schwartz lays out all of the (I’m choosing to believe VERY REAL) details of how he fits into the world of Stranger Things, including a super tight friendship and dance scenes with the monster of the Upside Down. Or, as he would for sure call it:

Jean-Ralphio was born two years after the events of Stranger Things, so that timeline works well, especially if you choose to buy into another theory that Dr. Saperstein is actually JR’s (and Mona Lisa’s presumably, since they’re twins) grandfather. However this works, IT WORKS.
