After 33 Years of Late-Night, David Letterman Finally Blushes (Thanks to Dakota Johnson)

Maybe it’s happened before, maybe it happened when Drew Barrymore took off her top and flashed Dave (although, that looked more like shock that embarrassment), but we know for sure that David Letterman is capable of blushing after last night’s episode when Dakota Johnson — the best and arguably only great part of Fifty Shades of Grey — suggested to Dave that he might be her father. It’s funny because, I swear, there’s like a brief millisecond where Dave seems to actually consider if it’s possible, because back in the day — I shit you not — Melanie Griffith was on the show about 11 months prior to Dakota being born, during a break in her relationship with Don Johnson.

I’m not saying it happened that night, but she and Johnson were in between marriages (although, they were dating at the time apparently), and you never know about Dave. He was … well, he did apparently get around. And he was flirty with Melanie here.

Also worth noting: Dakota Johnson is lovely.
