So Omegle is still a thing—huh, who knew! I remember the online webchatting tool that pairs you up with a random stranger being a big hit when it launched a long, long time ago—2009, it turns out; a lifetime in internet years—but I had no idea it was still about. I guess people really love being ambushed by random dong shots/ambushing people with dong (probably more of the latter to be honest).

I think I used Omegle a total of one (1) times, and the novelty wore off immediately—though I can see how it might have legs enough to keep on running for thirteen years. The prank potential, for one, seems pretty high, with the random stranger factor adding a huge amount of possibility and the lo-fi visuals inherent to it bolstering the options for scares and other shenanigans. Case in point, this Bill Skarsgård-looking motherfu*ker, who pranks people with a fake reflection. I have to admit, this is pretty funny. Especially the people who log off immediately when they notice that something’s amiss.
