Ozark has managed to become one of Netflix’s most enduring, awarded, and popular series, because every middle-aged white person in America watches it, flagellating ourselves with an “OK, Boomer” whip. It’s an exhausting, stressful television show, but one that’s difficult to turn away from. I’m from the area. What’s your excuse?
Oh, yes: Sometimes it’s a decent enough television program if you didn’t get your fill of Breaking Bad back in the day. There’s a fine green-blue tint to the picture, and Julia Garner is a splendid actress. But Laura Linney is the show’s MVP, and it looks like in season 3, she’ll be upgraded from Silent Bob in Dogma to Laura Dern is season two of Big Little Lies: Smart, pragmatic, tired of carrying water for her husband, and just a little bit of old-fashioned evil. I’m going to enjoy this very much.
Ozark season 3 arrives on your Netflix doohickeys on March 27th. Enjoy it, because this is Netflix, and they don’t like to run shows longer than three seasons.
