The 'American Rust: Broken Justice' Trailer Wants You to Forget About 'American Rust'

American Rust premiered on Showtime in 2021. It was a rust-town murder mystery released around the same time as Mare of Easttown. It would not take much to keep me invested in a rust-town murder mystery. American Rust nevertheless failed with a slow burn so slow that it never actually caught fire.

After Showtime canceled the series, Freevee picked up a second season, which has since moved to Prime Video despite Amazon’s insistence that Freevee is not going to be shuttered. Even the trailer is a slow burn, and not even the considerable talents of Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney can bring it to life.

You can also turn the brightness on your laptop all the way up. It won’t make a difference.
