Everyone could use a good pep talk. Sometimes, words of encouragement can give you that little extra boost of confidence. It can be the difference maker between winning or losing, or even a crummy day or a good day. If you don’t have the right people around to give you a nice pep talk, Stephen Colbert and Michelle Obama have you covered.
The Former First Lady sat down with the current Colbert crew chief to offer words of wisdom and advice to Stephen’s viewers. Unsurprisingly, they fit the roles of father and mother very easily. Because of that, a sketch that is silly in nature has an air of sincerity and sweetness to it.
Michelle Obama has a knack for performance. Sure, I’ve seen her do other guest spots before, and she usually does a great job, but it was even more evident here. She’s present and grounded and feels very comfortable in front of a camera and a live audience. People in the political sphere just aren’t usually this good, and it’s an absolute pleasure to watch.
I don’t know why I’m connecting to inspiring words this week (whether in jest or otherwise), but I’m not mad at it. If I keep top-loading all this goodness, surely the rest of my week will go as smoothly as can be (knocks on all the wood)!
