'Shrinking' Hasn't Lost a Step in Its Second Season Trailer

I love Ted Lasso, but that lukewarm third season pushed it into the third-best comedy on Apple TV+, behind Shrinking (and ahead of the endearing Acapulco), which still needs another season or two to earn that number one spot (currently held by Trying, genuinely the funniest, most heartfelt show you’re not watching).

Based on the trailer, the second season should solidify Bill Lawrence’s place as the cast returns to continue dealing with their issues. I know that Lawrence runs the show along with Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein, but I don’t want him to hand the reins over to the other guys (as he did to Sudeikis on Lasso), because Lawrence understands character-driven comedies with a lot of pathos, and he particularly understands why they should clock in at under half an hour.

Jason Segel and Jessica Williams were nominated for Emmys in their first season, but this should be their awards-season breakout. Up against the slightly lesser third season of The Bear, the next awards ceremony should be Hacks vs. Shrinking for all the marbles.

And Harrison Ford needs a supporting actor nom. HE SANG SUGAR RAY FOR US.

After a year-and-a-half absence, Shrinking returns on October 16th and will run until Christmas Day.
