All Your Favorite Shows Will Be Cancelled

It’s been a while since we hit renewals and cancellations, so here’s the latest:

Hulu has cancelled the Mindy Kaling-created Not Suitable for Work after one season. I can’t argue with the decision. Adults and Overcompensating are apparently the only Gen Z shows that the generation who doesn’t watch TV anymore can tolerate. Not Suitable for Work is no prize anyway — it’s what happens when you let a Gen Z premise get filtered through Chuck Lorre’s playbook. Adults returns for season two this week. Watch that instead. You’ll be fine.

Netflix, meanwhile, has renewed House of Guinness for a second season, which actually delights me. It’s a genuinely excellent series from Steven Knight, the Peaky Blinders guy. Here’s the weird part: the first season aired in September 2025, and they’re only now getting around to the renewal announcement. Production starts in January, which means two years between seasons. That’s eternity for a Netflix series that didn’t exactly set the cultural zeitgeist on fire. How’s anyone supposed to remember a show that old?

Netflix also renewed Being Gordon Ramsay and Legends for second seasons, plus At Home with the Furys and Blue Eyed Samurai for third seasons. I’ve either never heard of half these shows, or the gap was so cavernous that my brain has filed them away permanently. Actually, my bad! I did see Legends. I reviewed it just a few months back. Netflix really should invest in show titles people can actually retain.

Now, this one I’m genuinely pumped about: Prime Video has picked up Sterling Point for a second season. The first was excellent, and recent enough that I haven’t already purged it from memory. My daughters won’t shut up about it either. It’s like Off Campus, except sweet instead of spicy.

HBO finally renewed It: Welcome to Derry for a second season, though they took their sweet time. I bailed halfway through — found the whole thing tedious — but they’ve got a new showrunner, the who co-wrote the first season, which doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. Probably should have let this one fade quietly into the cultural ether.

Hulu cancelled Deli Boys after two seasons. Some people are upset about it, but not enough people watched it in the first place, hence the cancellation.

HBO picked up Stuart Fails to Save the Universe with actual timing sense: the first season is still airing. I watch it. It’s not something I love, but I like it enough to stick around. The characters land, and the production is lavish. The premise, though? Dead end.
