Most people don’t find a way to make money from their hobbies. They try! We live in an age where someone could start a podcast or TikTok channel about their favorite activity. It may not make money, but they can do their best. When it’s someone famous, it’s easier to monetize their leisure.
Deadline reports that Owen Wilson will star in a new (unnamed) show for Apple TV about golf. His character, Pryce Cahill, is old and washed up. He loses his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, and his wife, and attempts a golfing comeback with the help of a 17-year-old phenom.
This project, written by Ford v. Ferrari scribe Jason Keller, is perfect for Wilson. First and foremost, he’s an avid golf fan. Deadline says he is a big golf fan and regularly attends PGA events. It also sounds like a funny idea. There are hints of Eastbound and Down sprinkled into the premise that Wilson should have a lot of fun with.
I’m also always happy to see Owen Wilson doing new things. I love Owen Wilson. Even when he’s in something that’s not very good, he still manages to bring charm and wit that feels as natural as breathing. If anything, I may have difficulty seeing him as old/washed up. Even with his mustache in Loki, all I could think was, “What an odd look for a 27-year-old.”
