With RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Star Season 5 drawing to its climax, fans might be thirsting for more shade and spilled tea. Good news: Ru and the girls have got you covered with RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue.
Produced by World of Wonder’s Drag Race team, this docu-series follows fan favorites like Naomi Smalls, Yvie Oddly, Vanessa “Vanjie” Mateo (A.K.A. Miss Vanjie), Kameron Michaels, Derrick Barry, and Asia O’Hara as they prepare to headline the Las Vegas residency show RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!
You might remember Vanjie plugging this spectacular to the queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 as she “advised” them on the Snatch Game ep. Or perhaps the plug that was All-Stars 5’s “I’m In Love” mainstage challenge.
Directed by Ru and Jamal Sims, the Vegas show launched in January of this year, featuring luscious lip-syncs to RuPaul tracks and new original songs. With the show shuttered because of pandemic, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue will allow audiences to enjoy the charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent from the comfort and safety of home. The show also gets personal, promising some kai kai between queens.
Take a look.
Did you clock the liplock between Miss Vanjie and Kameron Michaels?
That might come as a shock to fans, because the sassy queen of meme was previously hooking up with her Season 11 co-star Brooke Lynn Hytes. However, on the reunion ep, the couple—known as Branjie to fans—ruvealed their romance had come to an end, which seemed to leave Vanjie aching. Then in her Season 12 cameo, she was on the prowl, hitting on Jackie Cox with brilliant bravado. So will Vaneron be a fling or the real thing? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue premieres Friday, Aug. 21 at 8:00 p.m. on VH1.
