You read that headline correctly! Jonathan Majors, currently menacing the MCU as Kang, stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night. While sitting on the couch, Colbert presented Majors with a proposition. The crowd got excited. I got excited. You likely clicked on this article based solely on what Colbert suggested, and Majors was up to the challenge. Who wouldn’t be? It’s not every day that you are presented with your own action figure on national television!

I’m sorry. I really am. I could have highlighted Majors’s cup metaphor. How he sees himself as a being that he controls. He can fill himself up or pour himself out, but no one else can. It is a beautiful way to look at life and something he has done since he left home for college. Instead, I went with the easy joke. In my defense, Colbert makes the same joke, and Majors responds accordingly.

Speaking of which, Jonathan Majors’s reaction to seeing his figure is charmingly genuine. He’s not big or bombastic (at first). He doesn’t “mark out,” as it were, even though he has every reason to do so. What we see is a contemplative man truly soaking in a moment. He does the same when he emerges from backstage. He doesn’t make a B-line for the couch. He lets the moment hit. He’s present.

This is a fantastic interview with a wonderful and talented actor. You should watch it for that reason. He also does play with himself a little bit. An action figure of himself, at least. I’m not a complete liar. I just massaged the truth a little bit.
