Last night, after spending months filming from his home in Cape Cod (I believe), Jimmy Fallon recorded his first show back at NBC’s studios at 30 Rockefeller Center. The Roots were also in the studio, along with a crew that wore both masks and face shields. Everyone also stood six feet apart. This is something that late-night hosts can do now in New York, because the state did the work necessary to get to this point. Here’s the opening:

Here’s Fallon singing a song about gettin back to normal, which is really about how not normal any of this is:

Meanwhile, over on Late Night, Seth Meyers has also returned after some time off, and while he is not back in the studio, he is in a new office space over in his in-laws’ house. You can tell it is his in-laws because of the paneling behind him. He goes deep on Trump and Betsy DeVos’ attempts to force teachers and students to return to school in the fall. If you watch nothing else in this clip, at least jump to the 10:45 mark to watch Betsy DeVos and remind yourself that Maine Senator Susan Collins twice cast the decisive vote to enable her nomination as Education Secretary.

Finally, Jimmy Kimmel is off for the summer, so he has a rotating list of guests hosts subbing in for him. Last night, Iliza Shlesinger’s monologue was on cancel culture. It’s basically nine minutes on how no one should be canceled for a drunken or stupid comment they made on the Internet back in the day, which is kind of a pointless monologue because that actually never ever happens. Celebrities may have to apologize, and they may get some sh*t for a day or two on Twitter, but no one gets canceled for isolated, politically incorrect tweets from five years ago. (Years of bigoted comments on Internet chat boards extending to as recently as two weeks ago, on the other hand … ). I mean, Iliza Shlesinger is guest hosting a show whose regular host used to host The Man Show, and Jimmy Kimmel has not been canceled.

Anyway, here’s Iliza Shlesinger.
