Dr. House Returns To Combat The Woke Mind Virus

Look out! As you are reading this, you or someone you love could become infected with the Woke Mind Virus! Why are you laughing? I’m being serious! College Campuses, Movie Theaters, and companies I don’t like are being infected by “wokeness” in record numbers. Look around you! People are embracing empathy and education instead of hate and ignorance. Frankly, that’s not how our country was built. There’s only one man who can help us: Dr. House MD.

Kal Penn, still filling in at The Daily Show, reunited with his old castmate Hugh Laurie (through some pretty impressive green screen). The duo examined patient, writer, and Derrick Comedy star, DC Pierson. Penn nails the scene, seamlessly matching the melodramatic energy of the show. Pearson plays an incredible straight man, confused by the intense goings on. House is House. It’s archival footage, so they do what they can. That said, one line (out of context or not) elicits a hilariously confused response from Pearson.

What makes this sketch work so well is how believable it feels. Just like Scott Adams is resurrecting Dilbert as a racist asshole, I could see Ben Shapiro and his Daily Wire hacks creating (or rebooting) a medical drama that combats things like “wokeness” and “kid identifies as helicopter” nonsense. It feels so plausible, I’m floored it doesn’t exist yet.

No matter what Elon Musk says, wokeness is not a virus. It is not coming to destroy your family. It certainly isn’t causing banks to close. No, wokeness is the newest in the line of GOP culture wars. Within a year, they will move on to something stupider. They always do, and people always fall for it.
