I’d love to say that I’m above a cash-grab prequel to a franchise that ran for four seasons too long — but also had a great sequel season — but who am I kidding? It doesn’t matter how frustrated or annoyed or bored I am, I apparently will never quit two things in my television life: The Walking Dead and Dexter.
The worst part is that I’m excited about the prequel, mostly because of a fantastic cast that includes Christian Slater as Dexter’s dad, Harry; Molly Brown (The Bear) as Debra; and two new characters played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and Patrick Dempsey. The teaser also gives us a glimpse of a young Maria LaGuerta, Angel Batista, and Vince Masuka (fans of Dexter will recognize them). Patrick Gibson even sort of looks the part as Dexter himself, and Michael C. Hall returns to narrate. How can I not get excited hearing Michael C. Hall return as the narrator?
Here’s the teaser.
Dexter: Original Sin premieres on, uh, Showtime on Paramount+ on December 13th, by which time we’ll probably call it Showtime on Paramount+ Owned by Skydance.
