The first trailer for Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight just landed. And if you forgot that Anthony Hopkins was in this movie, welp, here he is, monologuing about robots and sacrifice as swastikas explode in the background. And fresh on the heels of his Peak TV Westworld run, too. “Optimus Prime has left us” is a thing legendary actor Hopkins says, while Optimus Prime floats in space against a weird robot voice singing “floating in space.” That’s a shitty cover of The Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize,” if you needed to hate this trailer more. No one ever accused Michael Bay of subtlety.
To catch you up: Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth Transformers movie:
*Has King Arthur
*Has Hitler
*In Winston Churchill’s house
*May or may not feature Anthony Hopkins saying “Cade Yeager”
I’m feeling pretty good about it.
