I have an unspoken fondness for the “Saturday Night Live” bumpers, those photographs placed between commercials and the show. On most weeks, after I’ve written my “SNL” recap, I like to go through and pull the best “SNL” bumper from the show (although I chose to go with Sudeikis’ O-face from “What’s Up with That?” over Martin Short’s lackluster bumpers this week). Some hosts take the bumpers more seriously than others, and in looking through the bumpers from the last several years, it’s obvious that two or three people do them better than most.
Anyway, I thought I’d offer up 20 of the better bumpers in recent memory as a sort of appreciation to the hosts for putting in the effort, and to the photographers for making something of a minor art form out of them.
Which do you find most eye catching? (I can’t decide between three Tina Fey bumpers.)
