When you think of voice actors, there’s probably no better voice actors in history than Jim Henson and Frank Oz, although their best work has been with Muppets. But if you turn your attention to CGI films — basically 90 percent of animated features since Toy Story — most voice casts have been made up of A-listers, many of whom are more distracting than anything. Nevertheless, sometimes, those big names actually fit those characters perfectly, and create a wonderful identifiable character, distinguishable from the actor, and the result is the seven best voiced animated characters in CGI film.

10. Scrat (Chris Wedge), Ice Age

9. Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), Cars

8. P.T. Flea (John Ratzenberger), Bug’s Life

7. Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner), Up

6. Woody (Tom Hanks), Toy Story

5. Edna Mode, (Brad Bird), The Incredibles

4. James P. “Sulley” Sullivan (John Goodman), Monsters, Inc.

3. Hammy (Steve Carrel), Over the Hedge

2. Violet (Sarah Vowell), The Incredibles

1. Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), Finding Nemo
