Mark Strong Tolls Daniel Craig's Bond Bell, So Let's Rank the Best Possible Replacements
It would seem Daniel Craig’s best buddy and fellow actor, Mark Strong has let the proverbial
cat out of the bag Octopussy out of the palace. During publicity rounds for Grimsby, Strong was asked by ShortList if he’d like to work with Craig on a Bond film, and the actor’s reply indicated Craig’s stint as 007 is officially over. Read it and weep — or not — as the case may be.
“Do you know what, I’d have loved to have played the villain in a Bond movie while Daniel was doing it because he’s a pal and that would have been great. But I think he’s come to the end of his Bond time and so it’s probably never going to happen, but that would have always been great.
He has been [wonderful] and he’s loved it. But I think he feels like he’s mined it. He’s done what he wants with it. That point has come.”
Of course, until we hear it from the studio or Craig himself nothing is certain, but it’s as good a time as any to go over the best replacement candidates. Mind you, I’m not listing the bookie odds-on actors; rather, the ultimate top five contenders.
