The 41st season of Saturday Night Live licks off tonight (the pun is intentional, given the host), and it’s a crucial one for the series. It’s the first election year for the new cast, which hasn’t exactly won over a lot of viewers in the last two years, since the Sudeikis, Wiig, Meyers, Armisen, Pedrad purge (although, the cast has boasted several potential break-out stars in Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, Leslie Jones, Pete Davidson, and maybe, someday, Taran Killam).
The season premiere will be hosted by Miley Cyrus, who was actually pretty good the last time she hosted, in part because she’s willing to do anything (Ms. Cyrus has no shame, after all).
Nevertheless, many of the SNL faithful aren’t happy to see Cyrus host the season premiere, and as Gawker has noted, they’re “barfing” all over the choice on Instagram.
Twitter isn’t exactly thrilled, either.
SNL on NBC hosts Miley Cyrus tonight… ugh, any other host please— Ran A Liwag (@ranrunner) October 3, 2015
Cyrus will, however, be sporting a new hair color on the episode, where it is expected that she will extend a feud or two by hitting back at Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift in a sketch involving Vanessa Bayer (who handles the Miley Cyrus impressions). We are not yet sure, however, whether she’ll be hosting with or without clothes.
Something else to look out for in the season premiere? Hillary Clinton will reportedly make a cameo appearance on the episode, hoping to show her more human side and display her sense of humor. We’ll see if she can best her dick joke with Lena Dunham.
According to the NYTimes, she’ll be meeting her comedic counterpart, Kate McKinnon, who does a brilliant Hillary Clinton unhinged impression.
