Taran Killam Did Not Enjoy Working with Donald Trump on 'SNL'

Although SNL cast members have expressed disdain for Donald Trump on the show, few — if any — have spoken about Lorne Michaels’ decision to have him host an episode last year. Former SNL cast member (and current Hamilton cast member) Taran Killam, however, reveals to Brooklyn magazine what most of us knew to be true: They weren’t happy about it.

“It was not fun, and most of the cast and writers were not excited to have him there. I didn’t get the feeling that he was excited to be there, and it felt like a move for ratings from both sides. He was … everything you see. What you see is what you get with him, really. I mean, there was no big reveal. He struggled to read at the table read, which did not give many of us great confidence. Didn’t get the jokes, really. He’s just a man who seems to be powered by bluster.”

“He struggled to read at the table read.”

I guess that explains his aversion to books, and bolsters conspiracy theories that Trump can “barely read.”

Also, when Taran Killam says “most of the cast” weren’t excited, I wonder who he’s leaving out?
