Trump Thinks Jews Are Calling In Bomb Threats to Their Own Preschools but Ivanka Is Jewish So It's All Good
Yesterday, bomb threats were called into 16 more JCCs, bringing the total number of bomb threats called in to Jewish Community Centers around the nation since January to a shitton. Last week, Donald Trump was asked about the bomb threats by a Jewish reporter during a press conference, and he said that he’s not an anti-Semite, which was a curious thing to say given the question, kind of like asking someone where all the bread went and being told, “I love toast.”
Even more curious, however, was what he said today in a meeting with state attorneys general after asked what the federal government was going to do about the bomb threats. Trump did not provide details about his plans to combat the threats (because he has no plans), but he did say that the threats were “reprehensible,” and then he said:
“You have to be careful, because the reverse can be true,” [Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro] recalled the President saying.
Shapiro said Trump suggested this would be done “to make others look bad.” Shapiro said the President used the term “reverse” two or three more times.
In other words, Trump is inelegantly saying that he thinks that Jewish people are calling in the bomb threats themselves to make Donald Trump look bad.
This statement came soon after a Trump advisor Anthony Scaramucci tweeted:
Just try and wrap your brain around that, folks. Trump is suggesting that Jewish people are calling in bomb threats — which often result in preschoolers being evacuated from their schools during the middle of the school day (often, in the case of my daughters, during a inclement weather), and which have also led of number of parents pulling their children from these preschools — because Jewish people hate Donald Trump so much that they would put the livelihood of their community centers at risk.
Donald Trump is an idiot.
Also, do you know what antisemites do? They blame Jews for the problems of Jewish people. Trump’s whole line of thinking is really just another potent form of antisemitism.
My Jewish high school got a bomb threat today but thankfully the police were able to assure everyone that Ivanka is a Jew— Sarah Lazarus (@sarahclazarus) February 27, 2017
