Yesterday, Donald Trump — in a rare moment of lucidity — said something uncharacteristically reasonable. He said that people ought to be able to use whatever bathroom they feel more comfortable using, adding:
“There’s a big move to create new bathrooms” for transgender people. “First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is.”
What is happening? Has Donald Trump already shifted toward the general? Did he forget to run his actual thoughts through the Tea Party translator?
Whatever the reason, Ted Cruz decided to attack him on the issue with a new ad last night.
Did you feel your actual blood boiling? Did you make this face?
What I hate more than anything about this commercial is not just that Ted Cruz made it, but that Ted Cruz thinks that it will work, and that in certain parts of the country, it will work.
It’s evil. It’s gross. It completely lacks passion. This is the kind of bullshit that got Curt Schilling fired from ESPN two days ago, and now a guy is trying to become the President based on the same fear-mongering bigotry. I hate that we have to share the same Constitution with people like this. They don’t fucking deserve it.
