It’s the last day of the 2020 Republican National Convention. The four day event has been peppered with Trump offspring, poor analogies, hate speech and American flags. It’s been weird and at times, incredibly painful to watch. Luckily, musician and comedian Nick Lutsko made a song that captures every bit of its odd intensity.

The catchy tune skillfully mocks the aggressiveness of some of the more… passionate Republicans. It also walks that wonderfully fine line between satire and reality. Several friends I have sent it to immediately texted me back asking “Is this real?”
The other response I’ll inevitably get is “Who is Dan Bongino?”
The former NRATV host and unsuccessful Congressional candidate quickly becomes the subject of the 50 second tune. Since Dan Bongino once claimed his life was “about owning the libs” the video comes with an extra bit deliciousness baked in.
From wanting to be Bongino’s son to claiming a man under his grandmother’s stairs resembles the Republican, Lutsko descends into a sweaty and intense admiration as he strums his guitar. All while clad in an American flag bandana and Cookie Monster tank top.
It’s truly something that has to be seen to believed and then seen again and again and again. As the RNC comes to a close, I’m happy to know this song exists as a result and will be singing it around my apartment for the foreseeable future.
