Prince Harry Interviews Barack Obama, Sidesteps Wedding Invitation Question

In what was apparently Barack Obama’s first media interview since leaving office (is that true? Wow!), the President sat down with his friend, Prince Harry, who asked Obama how he felt on the day of Trump’s inauguration. The ever-classy Obama said he felt serenity and remarked mostly about how thankful he was that his marriage was as strong going into office as it was leaving office.

“The first thing that went through my mind was sitting across from Michelle, how thankful I was that she had been my partner through that whole process … but overall, there was serenity there. More than I would have expected.”

Prince Harry, who is a fucking Prince, is still worried about the future of the world, and for good reason.

Obama’s answer to that question was basically, “If I had to choose any time in history to be born, I’d choose now,” and I guess if you are someone fighting for the future of mankind, now would be a pretty good time to be alive if you like a good challenge.

Meanwhile, when asked by a BBC interviewer if Harry would invite the Obamas to his wedding next May, Harry sidestepped the question, saying that invitations have not been worked out (reportedly, inviting Obama to the wedding would infuriate Trump, who would not be invited, what with both Harry and Meghan Markle despising him).

Finally, Harry asked Barry a bunch of rapid-fire questions. It’s cute.

May this be the first of many, many interviews President Obama gives in 2018 and beyond.
