The Senate Intelligence Committee is not getting anything out of Rosenstein, Coats, Rogers, and McCabe at this morning’s hearing re: the Russian investigation, but I have to say: Their adamant refusal to answer very simple questions that could clear up any confusion about whether Trump asked them to back off the Russia investigation speaks volumes.
The highlight of the hearing, so far, comes from my Senator, Angus King, who is bulldogging the hell out of Rosenstein, Coats, Rogers, and McCabe about their refusal to answer a very simple question.
This is not a confirmation from the members being grilled, but their silence certainly feels like tacit confirmation, especially with Coats — under pressure — continuing to suggest that while he won’t say anything in a public forum, he would discuss his conversations with Trump with the special prosecutor or in a private meeting with the Senators.
Anyway, this is a great, intense exchange. This is how to conduct an investigation, and a clinic in how to get an answer without getting an answer (jump to the :40 mark).
Fascinating exchange here w/ @SenAngusKing: "I demand that you justify your refusal to answer." https://t.co/Bvz5AKIK2O

And why won’t Coats and Rogers answer?
To be clear, Coats & Rogers are refusing to answer unclassified questions in an unclassified hearing to protect President Trump politically.
