Let Joe Biden Passionately Explain What's Wrong With Trump

“I don’t think he was trying to be mean. He’s just so thoroughly, completely uninformed.”

Man, this farewell tour might break me. Because now I have to remember exactly how much I’m going to miss Uncle Joe too. Everything about the speech was perfect and perfectly Joe Biden. Yes, he flubbed his way through a couple of lines, and didn’t nearly have the oratory skills his boss does. But the passion and the logic are both real (BTW, Trump supporters, this is also what it looks like to “say what you think”). And of course,

“I don’t think he was trying to be mean. He’s just so thoroughly, completely uninformed.”

Here’s the thing about that Trump video from yesterday: he was trying to be nice. That’s not a defense; that’s an indictment. Because Trump is so wildly incompetent that when he’s attempting to show compassion to a group of veterans dealing with PTSD, he does the one thing that most contributes to vets with PTSD killing themselves. Because even when Trump is trying his hardest to be a decent human being, he’s still terrible. Because he can’t but help call people dealing with a sometimes debilitating illness “weak.”

“I don’t think he was trying to be mean. He’s just so thoroughly, completely uninformed.”

This is also why the bullshit about how Trump isn’t that bad of a guy is bullshit. Coming to the defense of someone being unfairly criticized is admirable. Coming to the defense of someone being completely fairly criticized because they say stupid shit over and over again makes you a dumbass.

“I don’t think he was trying to be mean. He’s just so thoroughly, completely uninformed.”

I don’t think he was trying to be mean either. I think that’s just who he is.

34 days until the election, y’all.
