I grew up around a lot of people who were not very bright but refused to acknowledge it. It’s a f**king disease. You can’t argue with these people because they are experts on everything and refuse to concede when they are wrong about a topic of which they have no knowledge. It is the most frustrating thing. They will insist that the only way to put out a gasoline fire is to pour more gasoline on it, and they will keep pouring gasoline on that fire until they have been swallowed by the flames. They will not admit they are wrong, and if they are proven wrong, they will say “I don’t care, it doesn’t matter.”
Now they have elected the President of the United States. Jordan Klepper over on The Daily Show frequently visits these people in their own environment, a Trump rally, and asks them questions. He allows them to hang themselves on their own rope, but even as the life is being squeezed out of them, they won’t acknowledge it. It’s hilarious, but also embolism-inducing, because — again — it illustrates what little can be done to convince them otherwise. They are ruled by spite, grievance, entitlement, narcissism, and anosognosia.
That said, I appreciate the evolution of Jordan Klepper at these Trump rallies over the last couple of years. His tone has shifted from, “Can you believe how dumb these people are?” to “Oh my god, why? What is wrong with these people? Do they not understand the words coming out of their own mouths? LISTEN TO YOUR OWN F***KING ARGUMENT!”
