It Sure Didn't Take Long for the Racist Nonsense to Start, Did It?

I hope you all enjoyed your half an hour? Forty-five minutes? Kamala Harris honeymoon, because it’s already over. All these Republicans that seemed to be fairly unexcited about Trump’s reelection prospects sure came running out of the woodwork when Joe Biden picked a Black woman as his VP, didn’t they? They’re all, like, Trump is a threatening Democracy; 160,000 people have died on his watch; he’s racking up trillions in debt. He’s the worst President in the history of the United States … but at least he’s not a Black woman.

First up: Ari Fleischer, who was George W. Bush’s press secretary, and hasn’t always been that excited about Trump. But let me tell you what, folks: No one knows more about the preferences of Black voters than Ari Fleischer.

A few weeks ago, Dick Cheney’s daughter, Liz Cheney, got on the wrong side of Trump’s Republican party when she began defending Dr. Fauci, and the Trumpers came after her, doing everything short of asking for her resignation. But racism always brings the Republican party together, don’t it?

Every time the Republicans call Kamala Harris a “radical liberal,” the progressive wing of the party feels a little thrill of excitement — she is?!!!! — until they remember that she’s a fairly moderate progressive. Good luck and all, but I really don’t think this “radical liberal” business is gonna stick to Biden and Harris.

And then there’s the President, whose initial reaction to the selection of Kamala Harris was 1) she’s a radical liberal, and 2) she was “nasty” to Brett Kavanaugh. Again, it’s not a great idea to remind most of us why we are excited about Harris on the ticket.

But the nice thing about the President is that he doesn’t hide his racism behind euphemisms. He says the quiet part real loud — he takes that dog whistle and he beats the sh*t of you of you with it.

There are 83 days until election day, and after the selection of Harris, this is Trump’s opening volley. Wow. It’s going to be a very long, very racist three months.
