Illegitimate President Is Priming the Country for Four More Illegitimate Years

Trump has complained to aids about the fact that President Obama has more followers than he does, even though — as he says — he’s better at Twitter than Obama. This comes the day after he met with Twitter founder Jack Dorsey to complain about a loss of followers (most of which were bots).

I cannot stress this enough. If you still follow Trump, please stop. Even if it’s just to find out what he’s angry about on any given day, there are better ways, like Unfollow Trump or Real Press Secretary. Trump is very thin-skinned and still assesses his worth based on his Twitter account. Also, if you haven’t, follow Obama.

— Speaking of his thin-skinned narcissistic personality disorder: He’s still super sensitive about the subject of Russian meddling, fearing that to call attention to it would call the legitimacy of his Presidency into question, according to former Homeland Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen:

In the months before Kirstjen Nielsen was forced to resign, she tried to focus the White House on one of her highest priorities as homeland security secretary: preparing for new and different Russian forms of interference in the 2020 election.

President Trump’s chief of staff told her not to bring it up in front of the president.

Ms. Nielsen left the Department of Homeland Security early this month after a tumultuous 16-month tenure and tensions with the White House. Officials said she had become increasingly concerned about Russia’s continued activity in the United States during and after the 2018 midterm elections — ranging from its search for new techniques to divide Americans using social media, to experiments by hackers, to rerouting internet traffic and infiltrating power grids.

But in a meeting this year, Mick Mulvaney, the White House chief of staff, made it clear that Mr. Trump still equated any public discussion of malign Russian election activity with questions about the legitimacy of his victory. According to one senior administration official, Mr. Mulvaney said it “wasn’t a great subject and should be kept below his level.”

— Jared Kushner is not worried about Russian interference, either, saying it was just “some Facebook ads.”

“The whole thing is just a big distraction for the country. You look at what Russia did — buying some Facebook ads to try and sow dissent. And it’s a terrible thing, but I think the investigation and all the speculation that’s happened over the past two years has had a much harsher impact on our democracy.”

— Remember that guy who sent all those explosive devices to journalists and Democrats? His defense, apparently, is that he had been “reprogrammed” by Donald Trump rallies, which he thought of as a “new drug.” He was also on steroids and 274 vitamins and supplements. Yep, yep: That tracks. Take a mentally unstable man and pump him full of Trumptosterone, and it’s the perfect recipe for disaster.

Meanwhile, on the autocrat watch, Trump refused to comply with a Congressional subpoena to turn over his taxes yesterday; he’s demanding that his aides refuse to testify in front of Congress, and he’s threatening to go to the Supreme Court if Democrats try to impeach him.

Good news, Trump! The Supreme Court Chief Justice oversees impeachment hearings! Bad news: The Democrats will never pull the trigger, even though 99 percent of the country has already made up their mind about Trump in 2020 and losing an impeachment hearing wouldn’t mean a damn thing. And the way things are shaping up, there will be no obstacles to Russia interfering with the 2020 election, so impeachment may be the only way to remove him from office.

Listen to Warren. Listen to Kamala. Do your duty.
