The one thing that Donald Trump had hoped to run on this fall — the economy — is in the sh*tter these days, thanks in large part to the way that Donald Trump has handled the pandemic. Things haven’t returned to normal in Europe or anything, but it’s more manageable. Germany, for instance, hasn’t seen a day with over 100 deaths since mid-May. Arizona saw 117 deaths alone today. Arizona was one of the first states after the initial wave in the Northeast to become a hot spot, and the lagging deaths there are starting to catch up with the surge in cases. This, along with an impeachment, botching the BLM protests, trying to get rid of Obamacare during a pandemic, a never-ending trade war with China, and Russian bounties on American troops — among many, many other things — is what Trump will be running against in November.

What will be his message going into the fall now that he has nothing else? More bullshit culture wars, of course. Trump has been pushing them his entire administration, and always seems to fallback on those culture wars when things go bad for him. However, voters are starting to finally tune that sh*t out. Still, in his Mt. Rushmore speech last week, that was the narrative he continued to push, complaining that protestors were waging a “merciless campaign to wipe out our history,” that “this movement is openly attacking the legacies of every person on Mount Rushmore,” and that BLM protestors ” hope to defame our heroes, erase our values and indoctrinate our children.”

Make no mistake: What Trump means when he says “protestors” is “Black people,” and what he means by “our heroes” are “Confederate soldiers.”

“We will not be terrorized,” he said during that speech. “We will not be demeaned, and we will not be intimidated by bad, evil people. It will not happen.” Trump is so out of lockstep with the rest of the country that he is waging war against NASCAR for prohibiting Confederate flags and supporting Bubba Wallace.

When you are to the right of NASCAR — when NASCAR has more moral authority — you’re in some trouble, folks. But this is it. It’s all Trump has now. Attacking Black athletes and Black Lives Matter protestors is the entirety of Trump’s arsenal. He is not even going after Joe Biden — DON’T ATTACK THE OLD WHITE GUY — he’s going after Biden’s supporters.

Both Kristy and Genevieve have seen this ad running in their markets (NYC and Baltimore), so Trump is also wasting money, but get used to these ads. Get used to Trump trying to paint a picture of an American dystopia brought about not by his incompetence, but by activists trying to right the wrongs of American history.

Get ready to see a lot of these kinds of ads between now and November.
