Donald Trump has absolutely no experience as as politician or lawmaker. He’s not even a competent CEO. There have also been rumors that he could drop out either before or after the election, because he’s not so much interested in running the country as he is in winning the election.
In that regard, what his son Donald Jr. told John Kasich when they were trying to entice him into become the Vice President is both alarming and somewhat reassuring … ?
From the NYTimes:
According to the Kasich adviser (who spoke only under the condition that he not be named), Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history? When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.
Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?
“Making America great again” was the casual reply.
The reassuring take-home message here is that Trump only wants to be the face of the Presidency, but he plans to let someone with actual experience do all the governing. Trump plans to delegate the goddamn Presidency.
The alarming take-home message here is that, should Trump win, he would presumably delegate the Presidency to Mike Pence. If you want to know why that is alarming, read a few comments from our Indiana readers, who could not be happier to be rid of him. Here’s one, from lauravan12:
First and foremost, PLEASE excuse this human turd - almost everyone in Indiana fucking loathes this guy. He single handily made our state look like the biggest bunch of bigoted assholes when he passed legislation last year allowing businesses to turn away LGBT people based on “religious freedom”. Not sure if you know this, but Indy is the HEAD of the NCAA (we have the final four here every few years, as well as other rounds of basketball) and this jeopardized it. Along with, you know, human rights and all that.Don’t get me started on women’s rights/planned parenthood/abortions. Please join Periods for Pence on Facebook - it’s received national attention for refusing to accept Pence’s insane behavior towards what I can and cannot do to my own damn body.
And don’t forget, he’s also a cigarette truther and he thinks that Disney’s Mulan was liberal propaganda designed to integrate women into the military, which he thinks is a bad idea.
Mike Pence might actually be worse for the country than Trump. Trump, presumably, couldn’t get anything through Congress because they hate him on both sides of the aisle. A Mike Pence presidency plus a Congressional Republican majority and several upcoming openings in the Supreme Court is like basically saying goodbye to civil rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, and Disney movies.
I also think Pence’s slogan may be, “Let’s Make America Smoke Again.”
I also wonder if Trump managed to get Paul Ryan’s endorsement by assuring him that Trump would actually have no role in the day-to-day governing of America?
