After a semi-surprise week off due to schedule challenges, we return with a brand new episode full of television, but the prep for this week led me to a weird realization:

I might be done with The Boys?

This has nothing to do with the quality of the show (which, by all accounts, remains high), or even whether or not I’d enjoy it, which I’m almost certain I would. But for whatever reason, it just… doesn’t feel like the world I want to live in right now.

Whether it’s because of the excesses of gore and violence, or whether it’s tied to Tori’s very smart theory (within our discussion in the episode) that the show feels less essential in a world where we might all be a little tired of superhero TV and movies, for whatever reason I haven’t been able to get myself excited to dive in.

That said, next week who knows, maybe I’ll be back and ready to talk about all the insane things that happened this season so far.

Elsewhere on the podcast, we covered so much! Our weekly watches, Fantasmas and Twin Peaks: The Return remain an important part of the lineup (Dustin is, even, begrudgingly, enjoying his journey to Twin Peaks). We also went through a number of other currently running shows, including Bridgerton, Interview With The Vampire, the Doctor Who season finale, The Acolyte (briefly), and even another AppleTV+ show that Dustin wants us to watch, Presumed Innocent!

Also, just FYI: Shoresy is back on Hulu for season 3, and it (thus far) remains the best raunchy wordplay-filled hockey comedy with a heart out there. Only 6 episodes a season so you can absolutely still watch the whole series in a day!

Podjiba! The TV podcast that is sometimes so full we forget to watch stuff (sorry, Orphan Black: Echoes) or talk about stuff (our bad, House of the Dragon), can be found anywhere podcasts are available, including below!
