Sydney Sweeney started trending on Saturday after the Euphoria actress posted a photo of her mom’s 60th birthday. The issue? Like most white people, myself included, it’s clear that her family is very MAGA-ish. (The birthday theme was “Make Sixty Great Again.”) Welcome to our sh*tty world. However, since Twitter is where nuance goes to die, Sweeney was ripped to shreds for posting the photos instead of outright disowning her parents on the spot. As someone who has cut off a family member for going super balls-out, extra white supremacy MAGA (my brother) yet still maintains a relationship with my less militant, yet Doug Mastriano-loving parents, I’m not about to judge anyone for how they handle these delicate situations. It’s the goddamn worst, and there are no easy answers. (Vulture)

I, too, am old enough to remember when Colin Farrell was a gossip bonanza, and frankly, I kinda miss it. (Lainey Gossip)

Florence Pugh is only going to do one press appearance for Don’t Worry Darling. Gee, I wonder why… (Dlisted)

Usher wants to be called the King of R&B. (Celebitchy)

If you’re a big Arcade Fire fan, you might want to sit down for this. (Pitchfork)

A lovely chat with Bill Nye about the end of the world. (Uproxx)

Possibly good news for Fantastic Four, but definitely bad news for anyone hoping to see more Chris Pine as Captain Kirk. (Gizmodo)

Michael K. Williams was “livid” when he found out that Season 2 of The Wire was going to focus on a bunch of white dockworkers. (IndieWire)

Ozzy Osbourne and his family moved back to England because America is a murderhole of guns. No sarcasm: You can’t argue with that logic. (Rolling Stone)

Probably one of the most insightful write-ups I’ve read about what the hell even happened in The Rehearsal finale. (Vox)

Esme picked up Missing, Presumed because she was intrigued by Susie Steiner’s obituary (F*ck cancer), but she stayed for the mediation on grief. "For all of the faults, I enjoyed Missing, Presumed, and, as long as you aren’t looking for a crackerjack of a mystery and you do want lovingly drawn, flawed women, this is an enjoyable, engaging read." What’s the most surprising way you’ve found a book? (Cannonball Read 14)

From Petr, and honestly, this tweet owns by itself, but the whole thread is great:
