It’s been a hard couple of days. We’re semi-buried in snow here, but we have electricity. Folks in areas without, I hope you are safe and warm, and that your power is restored soon. I hope the ice melts quickly. (I mean that euphemistically as well.) Cities protesting invasions, be loud, be safe! Take care of yourselves and your neighbors. And dogs. Always take care of dogs! (And cats!)
Everything I type, I delete. I cannot find the right words because I am flooded by every emotion all at once when I think about the loss of Alex Pretti. Instead, I’ll quote his patient, veteran Sonny Fouts, 71, “I’m saddened to the deepest part of my heart.” - (PEOPLE)
It’s a week old, and it’s likely modified from UK soccer chants. I LOVE IT! It’s my new favorite protest chant and I might just make it my ringtone. Warning: auto-plays salty language - (TikTok)
“Organized Gang of Wine Moms” Male politicians keep trying to insult us, but we nasty women aren’t bothered. - (SM)
As court documents continue to make their way into the press, Jameela Jamil is the latest celebrity to get caught up in the battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. To the surprise of no one, Jamil exchanged texts with the publicist she shares with Baldoni, and she did not have the best things to say about Blake. In fact, Jamil called her a “villain” and a “suicide bomber,” and she’s since defended those statements as “feminism.” OK. - (THR)
At the CAA Sundance Party, Florida Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost was assaulted by a man who (allegedly) stated how proud he was to be “white.” - (THR)
How celebrities naming their antidepressants out loud is quietly reshaping mental health culture. - (Yahoo Life)
We wish Natasha Lyonne and everyone struggling with addiction the best in their recoveries. - (Variety)
Beauty brands are glamorizing cigarettes, and if smoking becomes socially acceptable again, I swear that might be the thing that finally pushes me right. over. the. edge. - (Allure)
The Traitors (not the ones running the United States, the game show ones) issued a statement about fans’ cyberbullying of cast members. - (EW)
Back in the day, I used to watch General Hospital like it was my job, and Nancy Lee Grahn was one of my favorite actresses on the soap. I love so much that she is not shy or quiet about how she won’t support any of the traitors of this country. - (Parade)
That same traitorous regime’s FCC head is trying to screw with late-night. Again. - (TV Insider)
Though short, bjornsnipe learned a lot from Stan and Gus: Art, Ardor, and the Friendship That Built the Gilded Age by Henry Wiencek. "[It] covers the working (and potentially sexual) relationship of Stanford White and Augustus Saint-Gaudens, from their first meeting… through their many collaborations…and their inability to adhere to deadlines…to White’s shocking murder by Harry Thaw." Do you know much about the Gilded Age in the US? (Cannonball Read 18)
