With Star Wars Celebration officially over, it’s now becoming even clearer that the franchise is putting all of its eggs into the streaming basket. There was barely a peep about the movies. However, Total Film was able to get ahold of Kathleen Kennedy during the event where she continued to push the narrative that Taika Waititi will direct the next theatrical release. However, go ahead and bask in the amazing amount of confidence in this exchange:

Is that aiming for 2023?

Yeah. Well, not 2023, but late 2023.

The December 2023 release date?

We haven’t locked anything in.
