True story: I completely forgot that Gina Carano’s lawsuit against Disney was still a thing that’s happening. The last time I wrote about this debacle was literally a year ago. Well, it’s not happening anymore because both parties have reached an agreement that apparently included Disney farting out this nonsense that no one believes. “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.” Disney also says that it hopes to find “opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.” Does this mean they’ll wedge her transphobic mug into The Mandalorian & Grogu movie? With everything else that’s going on, I wouldn’t be surprised. The White House is probably drafting an executive order that Cara Dune gets to punch at least two woke aliens or Disney has to pay an 80 kajillion dollar fine. (THR)

Jeanne Theoharis’ A More Beautiful and Terrible History: The Uses and Misuses of Civil Rights History languished on Unpainted Huffhines’ shelf for years, but now seemed like a good time to read it. “This slim volume takes as its main premise that the civil rights movement of the early 20th century has become mythologized to such an extent that…that the struggles and successes of the movement have been flattened into a simple narrative.” Do you have a book that you think you ought to read now?
