It’s been almost four years since the most recent season of HBO’s Euphoria. After Sam Levinson’s The Idol went down as maybe the worst show in HBO history and his scripts for the third season had to be rewritten and production delayed, it started to look like the third season would never arrive.
Well, it’s coming. It’s shooting in Los Angeles, it’s expected to premiere in 2026, and it will likely be the final season of the series. We also know there will be a time jump that takes the characters out of high school.
Levinson has also added a slew of actors to the cast, joining regulars Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo. Many of the new cast members are faces you may recognize but not necessarily their names: Hemky Madera, Sam Trammell, Trisha Paytas, Kwame Patterson, Cailyn Rice, Homer Gere, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Kadeem Hardison, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert, Anna Van Patten, and Asante Blackk.
But then there are some names you’ll easily recognize: Sharon Stone (that tracks), Natasha Lyonne (that, too), Danielle Deadwyler (huh), Eli Roth (wait, really?), and Marshawn Lynch (sure, why not).
The first thing I thought when Levinson said he’d time-jump the characters out of high school was the one-time plan for Veronica Mars to time-jump into the FBI, but I guess that’s probably not in the cards here. The first two seasons were very loosely based on Levinson’s own early life, so I can only assume the final one will be about all these characters using their parents’ connections to get acting roles, becoming screenwriters, and… dating Ellen Barkin (is that the Sharon Stone character?).
I do look forward to the mess when it arrives in 2026. And here’s the first image from the third season. It’s Danielle Deadwyler.
