What's the Deal with the Azealia Banks and Conor McGregor Scandal?

Look: Someone had to cover the Azealia Banks and Conor McGregor mess, and unfortunately, I pulled the short straw. That’s not a pun—if it were, I’d call it a potato farmer.

So, here’s the deal: Conor McGregor is a UFC fighter and an objectively terrible person, with a long, well-documented history of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent behavior. He also managed to tank an otherwise fun Road House remake.

McGregor is currently engaged, though that hasn’t stopped him from being photographed kissing women who are decidedly not his fiancée. There are also plenty of rumored affairs.

Then there’s rapper Azealia Banks. She’s not exactly a hero herself. But every now and then, she strikes gold on social media.

Case in point: Conor McGregor sent Azealia Banks unsolicited nudes. And when she threatened to expose them, he apparently threatened her right back. But this is Azealia Banks. That’s not how she operates. “How you gonna send a bitch a some crooked dick pics then threaten her not to tell,” she wrote before promptly posting them to X. Yes, they’re still up. No, I do not recommend looking. One of them involves him using his, uh, anatomy to lift weights.

Also: Banks’ timeline today contains some deeply antisemitic content. But she did roast McGregor …
