Azealia Banks Goes Off in a Profanity-Fueled Tirade Against the LGBT Community
Rapper Azealia Banks may understand exactly why Idris Elba can’t be the next James Bond, but like Rose McGowan, she apparently has a tendency to paint the entire gay community with one broad stroke, lumping all gay men into a category of misogynistic woman haters.
Banks’ views on the LGBT community were made known yesterday when she went on a tirade against gays, and British actress Alison Newman (East Enders) got caught in the crossfire, after Banks compared the LGBT community to the KKK.
Newman called Banks an idiot, and Banks responded by suggesting that Newman uses Botox.
@alisonnewman Botox those frown lines. Juvederm those lips. Get a tan. YIKES!— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 27, 2015
Newman jumped back into the conversation to defend her laugh lines.
And for the record. I'm 47 yrs old. I love my frown lines & my skinny lips. Most of my wrinkles are from laughing. And Botox is poison.— Alison Newman (@alisonnewman) September 27, 2015
At this point, someone else called Banks a c*nt and she went off.
@alisonnewman you're confused. You've allowed gay men to convince you that u owe them respect while they refer to you as fish and cunt.— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 27, 2015
@alisonnewman if gay men are allowed to take words originally designed to hurt women and make them colloquial, then why can't I ?— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 27, 2015
@alisonnewman are their feelings more important than ours? Why do they deserve respect that they don't give us?— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 27, 2015
@AZEALIABANKS Everyone's feelings are the same. What's your problem?— Alison Newman (@alisonnewman) September 27, 2015
@alisonnewman I don't have one. At all. The gay community is asking me for respect that they are not willing to reciprocate. Point blank— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 27, 2015
@alisonnewman If I have to stop using derogatory language to refer to gay men. Then they must give me the same courtesy. Simple.— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 27, 2015
If I am to be a part of an LGBT community I want to be in it with people who aren't so weak or so easily moved ya know.— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 28, 2015
Words are not tangible things. You all CHOSE to get upset. Remember… Offense is only TAKEN, it is never given. 😇— AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 28, 2015
I cannot speak to Banks’ perspective or personal experiences, but Alison Newman seems to be an odd target for her ire.
