The Scrubs reboot, which should be arriving at midseason, has added nine members to its cast of returning players, which already includes original cast members Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes, who will be pulling double duty for ABC as she’ll continue to be a regular on High Potential.
Among the new additions are actually two more returning players, Robert Maschio and Phill Lewis, who will continue to play The Todd (High Five!) and Hooch (“Hooch is crazy”). New cast members, however, include Vanessa Bayer — who will run a wellness program for faculty and staff at Sacred Heart Hospital — and Loot’s Joel Kim Booster, who will play an attending physician.
The rest of the new cast are mostly unknowns: Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi, and Amanda Morrow.
Still missing from the original run, so far, are Neil Flynn — who played The Janitor — and Ken Jenkins, who played Dr. Kelso (the latter may make a special appearance, but he’s retired and has not appeared onscreen since 2018). I hope that Flynn, especially, returns, because what is Scrubs without The Janitor (still very good, in all likelihood). Flynn has appeared several times in Bill Lawrence’s Shrinking. Sam Lloyd, who passed away during COVID, will also be sorely missed.
