Last week, I covered how Marvel is betting big on a massive X-Men reboot after the one-two punch of Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars will reportedly wipe the slate (mostly) clean for the MCU. Despite the wobbly state of Marvel, and superhero movies in general, up-and-coming actors have been showing zero hesitation about joining a new stab at the mighty mutants.

Obsession star Inde Navarrette has already met with X-Men director Jake Schreier, and Sabrina Carpenter is rumored to be in the mix. Now, the latest reports are pegging Adam Driver for the meaty role of Magneto. Keep in mind, this is nothing but internet speculation at this point, but I’m pretty Tumblr will turn radioactive and sink into the earth if this happens. The online chatter around Driver also names a potential Professor X, and OK, yeah. I can see it.

Via Men’s Journal:

Let’s start with Patrick Wilson. Several social media accounts, including Geek Vibes Nation, report that the star is in the running to portray Professor X in the upcoming X-Men movie. It appears the recent rumor on social media was perpetuated by the website Knight Edge Media. Wilson is quite the accomplished actor in Hollywood, earning a Golden Globe for Fargo and an Emmy and a Golden Globe for Angels in America. He’s also a familiar face from his roles in projects like Watchmen, Aquaman, and The Founder.

Then there’s Adam Driver. Social media accounts like Cosmic Marvel and MCU Film News are reporting that Driver has been selected to be the new Magneto. Driver has received Emmy nominations for his role in Girls and Golden Globes for White Noise, Marriage Story, and BlacKkKlansman.

The big question is would Adam Driver lower himself to make a Marvel movie, and all signs point to, uh yeah, are you kidding me? The dude was ready to get back in bed with Star Wars after the cinematic crime calling itself The Rise of Skywalker. Would playing another villain be a little bit of type-casting? Sure. But my man does know how to play a sexy antagonist that lights the internet loins on fire.

I’m terrified to ask this question, but is there more Kylo Ren fanfic than Edward Cullen? I’m going to say, yes, because I love to be right. Let’s just go with that and not even look into it. We’re going let that one go, and enjoy the rest of the day. Good talk!
