Spoilers for The Boys Season 5 finale below.

With The Boys series finale now streaming, most fans breathed a sigh of relief as the show managed to avoid a Game of Thrones-style disaster. Does the show’s ending knock your socks off? No. Does it miraculously land an increasingly wobbly jet? Yes. As finales go, it does the job and wraps everything up in a predictable, if not cathartic bow. Will we discuss it more at length? Maybe!

In the meantime, Elon Musk gave The Boys team a huge boost by whining about the finale on the social media platform that he drove into the ground. However, he made sure not to gripe about the very obvious parody of him that appeared in the episode. Maybe Musk liked seeing himself get murdered in space by Homelander? In fact, his main complaint echoed numerous “fans” of the show who can’t believe that the flag-draped Supe went out like a sniveling coward.

If there’s one thing The Boys has made clear it’s that media literacy is dead. A shocking large subset of viewers didn’t grasp that Homelander is the bad guy until Season 3. To jog everyone’s memory, the infamous scene where Homelander lets a plane full of people die happens in the very first episode. Subtlety has never been The Boys’ cup of tea, yet here we are watching grown adults miss example after example after example of Homelander fighting back tears anytime someone stands up to him. The final episode even had his own son spell out that the self-proclaimed “God” is a tantrum-throwing baby.

So, when Homelander finally had his powers stripped and was left to fight Butcher mano a mano, it didn’t take long before he was on knees begging for his life. Again, the show could not have made it more clear that underneath all that power, Homelander is nothing more than a pathetic tangle of mommy and daddy issues.

Right-wingers did not like that! They’ve been throwing quite the fit over the past 24 hours, and Elon Musk joined in to call the treatment of Homelander “pathetic.” Much to his chagrin, showrunner Erik Kripke could not have been more thrilled with this reaction. If you look at the comments of his Instagram post, The Boys cast — including Homelander actor Antony Starr — also made it a point to laugh at Space Karen.

The only thing better than Musk’s pouting would be the actual weirdo in the White House melting down, but he probably would just fast forward to the punching. Not a big plot guy.
