Donald Trump Loves MS13, Doesn't Understand Photoshop

President Donald Trump gave an interview with Terry Moran of ABC News yesterday, and it went about as well as you’d expect. The sitting president rambled on about nonsense and grew agitated when questioned, but Moran also didn’t push back on obvious falsehoods as much as he could and should have. That’s been one of the biggest issues with the media’s coverage of Trump. He’ll say something demonstrably false, might get called out on it (and that’s a big might), he gets annoyed, and the interviewer tries to move on so as not to lose access to their golden goose (if you remember, Jack reduces the golden goose despite regularly being threatened with jail time).

The big lie that Trump was called out on in the newest interview involves Photoshop. Not even good Photoshop, to be clear. Hell, what Trump recently presented is even easier to identify as fake than that insane Golden Girls reboot poster that went around. I used a fake header for this piece; it took me all of three minutes to create, and I still think I worked harder than whoever made the fake photo of Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s “gang tattoos.” Trump sat in the Oval Office and presented a photo that looked like it was edited on the fly, on somebody’s phone, and acted as if it were real.

But here’s the worst part, I think he does think it’s real! The man lies all the time; it’s like breathing for him. However, I do think you can tell when he’s lying versus when he truly believes his own bullshit. It’s the George Costanza method: it’s not a lie if you believe it (I’m sure someone came up with that before Costanza, but that’s the example I’m using, don’t @ me). But it goes even further! Here, I don’t know if Trump is buying into his nonsense. I think he honestly believes the photo he showed is real! Watch the clip below (but I don’t blame you if you don’t).

This exchange is so very telling.

Trump repeatedly claims the photoshopped MS-13 on Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckles is real, Terry Moran keeps telling him it isn't, prompting Trump to say this:

"I never heard of you. I picked you. You’re not being very nice. He had MS-13 tattooed… Just say yes!"

First, it’s incredibly annoying that Moran offers Trump the benefit of the doubt. He first tries to imply that the president is referring to other tattoos that people have interpreted as MS13-related. Luckily, he’s talking to a man whose brain is constantly melting, and he doubles down on the egregious idea that someone in a gang would have that gang’s letters printed on their knuckles! What?! Why do that when you can get “luv crime” would fit across both hands, ensuring everyone knows how dangerous you are.

Moran isn’t totally at fault here. He does shoot the President down a few times, and that leads to Trump getting all pouty and trying to bully and threaten him for “not being very nice.” Not only is he a dumb, crazy old man, but he’s also a baby when it comes to being challenged. Just an absolute coward of a punk who can’t handle anything outside of his world of sycophants, brown nosers, and whatever next level of ass-kissing Lindsay Graham is inventing by openly calling for Trump to be Pope (yes, that’s real).

One of the most powerful men in the world believes a fake picture is real. The only upside is that, given other countries are now uniting around not wanting their own Trump screwing things up/hurting millions of people, America’s power could be lessened. We will no longer be seen as a world leader, and will lose the benefits that come with that. But at least it means a man who can’t spot a bad Microsoft Paint job won’t have more influence.
