Who Is Anna Delvey? Delvey, real name Anna Sorokin, is a Russian-born con artist who posed as a German heiress in the mid-2010s and worked herself into wealthy social circles in Manhattan. There, she funded her lucrative lifestyle using bad checks, forged documents, and the connections she made with wealthy people based on her lies. She was the subject of a Netflix series, Inventing Anna, where she was played by Julia Garner. Delvey was eventually caught and served nearly four years in prison. Despite not being an American citizen and despite her criminal record, she has so far managed to avoid being deported to Germany (although, she is fighting deportation charges).

What Does Anna Delvey do now? She basically leaned into her criminal persona and now she’s a fashion influencer of some sort. She also has an ankle monitor (because the aforementioned deportation charges) and is limited to Manhattan.

What’s the Bunny Dumping Controversy? I’m glad you asked! Delvey took part in a photoshoot over the weekend with two bunnies that were on leashes. See exhibit one:

After the photoshoot, the bunnies were abandoned in Prospect Park.

That Doesn’t Sound Great No, it doesn’t! But to be fair to Delvey, it was seemingly not her fault. After the Internet did its thing and lost its mind because two rabbits had been abandoned in a park, Delvey insisted that the bunnies were safe at home with their owners.

That was not true. A 19-year-old involved with the photoshoot — conducted by photographer Jasper Soloff — has since taken responsibility, confessing that they were responsible. See exhibit 2:

The bunnies have since been collected and are safe in a foster home. They have been named Moon and Joaquin.
